Since forming two years ago, Vocal Horizons choral group has performed at seniors centres across the city and with the Toronto Philharmonia Chorus.
Come Dec. 1, the 17-member choir will perform its Rhapsody in White concert at Willowdale United Church, 349 Kenneth Ave., at 8 p.m.
The group will perform seasonal and Christmas pieces from the 1600s to present day, said Vincent Cheng, founder and music director of Vocal Horizons.
“I wanted to get a bunch of friends together to sing high-quality music,” Cheng said of the group’s formation. “We’ve come a long way. We perform classical music, jazz and arrangement contemporary.”
Vocal Horizons, which is made up of young adult, classically trained choristers, meet once a week to train for several hours, Cheng said, adding members reside in North York, Scarborough and Thornhill.
And Vocal Horizons plan to record and release their first CD by April and will perform at MusicFest Canada in Montreal in May. A spring concert with Toronto Philharmonia Chorus is also in the works, Cheng said.
Tickets for Rhapsody in White cost $25 and $15 for students and can be purchased online at www.vocalhorizons.com.
